Book Review - The Verdict by Nick Stone
The Verdict by Nick Stone is about a struggling legal clerk, Terry Flynt, and his former best friend, Vernon James, a millionaire accused of murder. Terry faces a dilemma, on one hand this case could make his career, but on the other Vernon betrayed him in the past. Can Terry set aside their history to work this case? Or is he ready to witness Vernon's downfall, something he's been secretly hoping for since they were in college.
At times I forgot that Terry was just a legal clerk and not a detective, the author took quite a bit of freedom in giving Terry the opportunity to investigate this case on his own. In addition, the writing style took some getting used to (very verbose in some parts and very vague in others.) But in the end I really enjoyed the story and wanted to know how the characters reconciled their differences...or not!
