Usually when I think of cocktails that use Crème de Violette I think of spring time, when violets are in bloom. But the color of this Aviation also lends itself to the Halloween season, don’t you think? This cocktail dates back to 1916, so it has some solid history behind it that also lends itself nicely to the season. If you’re having friends over for a Halloween party, you might try this recipe:
- 2oz gin (I always, always recommend @tanquerayusa Malacca)
- .5oz maraschino liqueur .25oz Creme de violette
- .75 lemon juice
- Lemon peel or @luxardousa cherry for garnish
Fill a shaker with ice. Add gin, maraschino liqueur, Créme de Violette, and lemon juice. Shake like you mean it. Strain into your favorite drinking vessel and garnish with a lemon peel or Luxardo cherry. Enjoy.
