My Favorite Local Shops in Los Cabo

My Favorite Local Shops in Los Cabo

Los Cabos, located at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, offers a unique shopping experience that blends local crafts with high-end luxury goods. Whether you're strolling through vibrant markets or browsing upscale boutiques at Puerto Paraiso Mall or on Luxury Avenue, there's something for every taste and budget.

One of the most popular shopping destinations in Los Cabos is the Art District in San José del Cabo BCS. Here, you'll find a variety of art galleries showcasing Mexican art, from traditional paintings and sculptures to contemporary works by local vendors and artists. The district comes alive during the weekly Art Walk, where visitors can meet the artists, enjoy live music, and explore the diverse range of artwork on display.

For those seeking traditional Mexican handicrafts, the Mercado Mexicano in downtown Cabo San Lucas BCS is a must-visit. This bustling market is filled with colorful stalls selling everything from handwoven textiles and pottery to intricately crafted jewelry and leather goods. Bargaining is common here, so don't be afraid to haggle for a good deal.

No trip to Los Cabos would be complete without picking up some authentic Mexican tequila. Many shops in the area offer tastings where you can sample different varieties and learn about the distillation process. Look for boutique tequila brands that you won't find back home, and consider purchasing a bottle as a souvenir to enjoy later.

If you're in the market for luxury goods, the high-end shopping malls in Cabo San Lucas won't disappoint. Here, you'll find renowned designer brands alongside upscale boutiques selling everything from designer clothing and accessories to fine jewelry and watches. Whether you're looking for a statement piece or a one-of-a-kind souvenir, you're sure to find it in one of Los Cabos' luxury shopping destinations or jewelry stores.

In addition to these popular items, don't forget to explore the local culinary scene. From authentic Mexican spices and sauces to gourmet chocolates and artisanal mezcal, there's no shortage of delicious treats to bring back home with you. And if you're looking for a truly unique souvenir, consider booking a cooking class or food tour to learn how to recreate your favorite Mexican dishes at home.

Whether you're searching for traditional handicrafts, luxury goods, cuban cigars, or delicious treats, shopping in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo offers something for everyone. So grab your wallet and get ready to indulge in some retail therapy against the stunning backdrop of this beautiful coastal paradise.

My Favorite Local Shops in Los Cabos

For a literary travel guide to Los Cabos, click here. I’ve been to Los Cabos six times now and there are a few shops I go back to each time.

1) Eclectic Array

Eclectic Array was one of the first shops I discovered when during my first trip to Cabo. They carry lots of fun trendy items as well as beautiful artisan pieces. Although not your typical gift shop, they are one of my go-to places for gifts. Eric and I have had our eye on these beautiful beaded Huichol Skulls for years. They are intricately designed with tiny beads glued by hand with bee wax onto a skull. The process takes months to create and the result is just exquisite. Shop Eclectic Array here.

2) Baja Blowing Glass Factory

During one of our earlier trips to Cabo, we took a guided tour of San José del Cabo. The Baja Blowing Glass Factory was one of the stops on that tour. We’ve been going back ever since. You can buy hand-blown glass at hundreds of shops in the Los Cabos area, so why the Baja Blowing Glass Factory? For one, you can watch them make the glass right in front of you and one of the workers will explain the process as it unfolds. And also everything in their shop is made by their company. Some of the other shops get glass from all over and may not even be made in Mexico. Shop Baja Blowing Glass Factory here.

3) Choya Rose

Choya Rose is one of my more recent discoveries. They offer handcrafted furniture, signature home accents, Mexican-made clothing and other bespoke designs from Mexican artisans. I fell in-love with their woven cacti nearly as tall as me, hand-woven belts with beautiful gold-colored buckles, and hand-painted table ware. Really, I wanted to buy the whole store. Shop Choya Rose here.

4) Pink Agave

I just adore this tiny store. From the outside it looks like any other adorable, colorful shop in San José del Cabo. But inside they have a much more curated selection of trendy items with Mexican flair. Several years ago I purchased a black and white woven clutch that is still one of my go-to vacation pieces. This most recent trip I purchased a pearl and rattan necklace that I plan to wear as a belt with a dress that had a matching belt that I lost in the fire. Shop Pink Agave here.

5) Flora Farms

Flora Farms is quite the destination, though I’ve heard it has expanded quite a bit since the last time we visited. They have an incredible restaurant that is still one of our most memorable dining experiences in Cabo, lots of boutique shops (including a new Eclectic Array location), and now they even have a spa. We purchased a hand-painted bowl with matching spoon while we were there and though we’ve seen other stores sell pieces like that, none of them had the impressive collection we found at Flora Farms. Shop Flora Farms here.

6) Kere

I’ll be honest. I stumbled into this shop in desperate need of a new pair of shoes. I’d made a rookie mistake by wearing a new pair of shoes when we had a full day of walking and I was paying the price. Kere had an absolutely gorgeous selection of a neutral-colored collection of clothing, hats, shoes, and art. They pride themselves on each piece being made with “care and love by the hands of Mexican artisans with conscious materials.” Shop Kere here.

7) La Coyota

A friend of mine suggested we check out La Coyota on our last trip to Cabo. We were delighted to find a vast array of Mexican arts including glass, ceramics, paintings, textiles, metal work, and more - I’d never seen such a large selection of well-curated handmade pieces. My mom purchased several of the quintessential glass hearts you see all over Cabo, and once we have a bigger house I dream of buying full place settings of their ceramics, all new bedding and pilows, and more. What I loved most was that they had all of the handmade items that I’ve grown to love and appreciate from Mexico, but in colors that are more suitable for my home in Chicago. La Coyota also has a boutique hotel that I would love to stay in someday! Shop La Coyota here.

8) Colores Mexicanos Chicago

Not planning a trip to Cabo anytime soon? You’re in luck. There is a fantastic store that sells handmade, fair trade goods made by Mexican artisans in Mexico right here in Chicago. Not in Chicago? No worries! They also have a pretty robust website that you can order from. They sell everything from pillows to purses to toys. I’m just ordered this Chicago Papel Picado made exclusively for Colores Mexicanos Chicago.

9) Yumana Kitchen

On our most recent trip to Cabo, we stumbled upon Yumana Kitchen. It had great Yelp reviews and we needed a break from the relentless sun and long day of shopping. We were pleasantly surprised with an adorable courtyard that offered a great setting for a bite to eat and a cocktail but they also sold many of the items in the restaurant including the pendant lamps, napkin holder, plates, and plant pots. Their aesthetic is modern but their artisans use traditional techniques. - Unfortunately I heard this place closed but I’m leaving it up just in case they come back - I adored them. You can check out their old IG here.
