Hi.

Welcome to Hasty Book List, where I document and review the books I read. Hope you have a nice stay!

Heather:  Kate Morton

Favorite place to read a book:

Hazel: In bed, or - preferably - in a hammock on a tropical island.

Heather:  In a bubble bath with the door locked and a guard dog outside it to keep the children from banging on the door and interrupting my quiet time.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with:

Hazel: Daisy Jones from Daisy Jones & The Six

Heather:  Jamie Frasier from Outlander. Need I say more?

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author:

Hazel: When I’d written my first book and it was rejected and I was devastated.

Heather:  The first time I went to a conference and participated in a round table critique. The feedback made me so excited to learn and work harder, and push myself. It was totally exhilirating!

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:

Hazel: Hardback all the way.

Heather:  Paperbacks for tub reading, audiobooks during chores and exercise, and hardbacks for the shelf!

Last book you read:

Hazel: Daisy Jones & The Six, by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s my book of the year for 2019 (so far!)

Heather: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

Pen & paper or computer:

Hazel: Both! Notebook for ideas and random notes. Computer for the actual writing.

Heather: I’m the same as Hazel. I absolutely love a fun notebook and keep one on hand in the glove compartment of the car, in my purse, and at my desk at all times. But I use my laptop for regular writing--unless I get stuck on a scene and then I find that sometimes, there’s nothing like paper and pen.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with:

Hazel: Winnie the Pooh, and Evie from Last Christmas in Paris.

Heather: Alice from Last Christmas in Paris

If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a:

Hazel: Cake Boss. I love baking and decorating cakes!

Heather:  I’d own a flower shop in the south of France and make beautiful bouquets

Favorite decade in fashion history:

Hazel: The 1920s without a doubt. Flappers. Gatsby. Downton Abbey. So much elegance and sophistication.

Heather: I hate to be a copycat, but there’s a reason Hazel and I write books together. Ha! Edwardian era into the roaring 20s, hands-down.

Place I’d most like to travel:

Hazel: China. My husband travelled there recently with work and his photographs have made me even more keen to go.

Heather: I’m a sucker for European travel at any time, but I also love the Caribbean. It’s hard for me to even consider going anywhere else, but I’d also really like to visit Japan.

My signature drink:

Hazel: Gin and Tonic. Served with elderflower tonic, ice and lime. Delicious!

Heather:  a dry red wine, preferably French.

Favorite artist:

Hazel: Monet or Degas

Heather:  Van Gogh or Rodin, for male artists. For women, Camille Claudel.

Number one on my bucket list:

Hazel: To see the Northern Lights in Iceland

Heather: To bring my family on a European vacation, show them the sites.
