Author of CAT ON A HOT TIN WOOF

Author I draw inspiration from:

P.G. Wodehouse and Dostoevsky. An odd combo, I know.

Favorite place to read a book:

Outdoors on our deck, overlooking a Cape Cod salt marsh.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with:

I wouldn't relish being stuck in an elevator. Even if it was Jesus (name of book - the Bible) I'd want immediate rescue.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author:

I've always known. Of all activities writing was my best one. Tennis would have been nice.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:

As a reader I like paperback. Easier to manage than hardcover. Audio is great for car rides. Digital is not my thing - not a fan of screen time.

The last book I read:

Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President - Candice Millard. I first saw a streaming show based on the book, then read it. A great, if depressing story. Lesson - don't have your bullet wounds treated 1880's style.

Pen & paper or computer:

Computer. Pen and paper wouldn't be readable.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with:

Is there a tennis playing book character? That would be good. A lot of my tennis buddies are aging out.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a:

Professional tennis player. Well, I'd be long retired. This of course is a dream career.

Favorite decade in fashion history:

The next era. I've failed at all the others.

Place I’d most like to travel:

The Bahamas. I worked there as a spearfisherman way back when and love those turquoise waters.

My signature drink:

Black coffee - specifically Ahab's dark roast, ground at Pie in the Sky in Woods Hole, MA

Favorite artist:

Caravaggio

Number one on my bucket list:

More hiking out west, specifically in southern Utah.
