Hi.

Welcome to Hasty Book List, where I document and review the books I read. Hope you have a nice stay!

Author I draw inspiration from: There are so many, but currently, Audre Lorde.  The brilliance, eloquence, and clarity of thought in her essays is invigorating and motivating.

Favorite place to read a book:  Anywhere I can read is a good place!  But my preference is for someplace solitary. I want to be able to be fully absorbed in the world of the story.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Cromwell, from Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies.  He’d either find a way out, or tell charming stories until we were unstuck.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I’ve wanted to be a writer as long as I can remember, but it took me many decades to have the courage to claim that desire out loud.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:  Paperback.

The last book I read: Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. It was excellent.

Pen & paper or computer: Computer, definitely.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Tenar from The Tombs of Atuan, by Ursula K. LeGuin, or Bigwig the rabbit from Watership Down.

If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Teacher and Stage director of Shakespeare (is that cheating? I actually am those things.)

Favorite decade in fashion history: 50’s and early 60’s.  Love those shirtdresses.

Place I’d most like to travel: Greece and Turkey, always.

My signature drink: Seltzer.  I also appreciate a good mojito.

Favorite artist: I don’t think if I would call him my favorite, but I always enjoy looking at Bouguereau’s work. He tackles so many mythological themes.

Number one on my bucket list: Learn to rock climb and sleep more.
