Hi.

Welcome to Hasty Book List—your cozy corner of the internet for all things bookish. Here, I share the stories I’m reading, the ones I can’t stop thinking about, and a few literary surprises along the way. I’m so glad you’re here.

Favorite place to read a book: An airplane with Wi-Fi is down. I’m terribly sorry, but I can’t respond to email. I guess I have no choice but to find out what happens next in Outlander!

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Well that’s easy. I have a phobia about being stuck in an elevator. So it’s the “Ma” character from Room—that novel where the mother and son have been in one room for seven years. I figure that woman has some serious trapped-in-a-box coping skills.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: In third grade I read All of a Kind Family and I was hooked. Reading?!! What strange sorcery is this? I decided to become that kind of sorcerer.

Pen & paper or computer: Computer. My goal is to wear down the “E” key so you can’t see the letter anymore. I have yet to meet an E that can beat me.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Count Olaf from the Lemony Snicket novels. I think it might be useful to have a super villain as a best friend.

If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Hardened criminal. If couldn’t act out my fantasies on the page, there’d be no choice.

Favorite decade in fashion history: 1950s. My mom was a famous fashion model in that decade. I would love a collection of cunning little hats.

Place I’d most like to travel: Narnia. But none of the wardrobes I’ve tried seem to work.

My signature drink: Good strong tea made from loose leaves. I’m a real tea snob.

Favorite artist: Christo. Given the pandemic, I’m curious if he’d consider doing interiors.

Number one on my bucket list: This has changed since pandemic. I’m at the epicenter in NYC under a stay-at-home order. Number-one bucket-list destination used to be going to Istanbul. Now it’s more like just New Jersey.

Anything else you'd like to add: I have synesthesia, so ever letter of the alphabet has a color. For example: WATER is Orange-Red-Yellow-Magenta- Gray
