Chicago artist Kelly steps through a door at a gallery opening on her 29th birthday and emerges in her Michigan hometown. Suddenly, she’s got 12 years of wrong memories and is married to a man she barely knew in her old life. Kelly is shaken and confused, but she plays along with this new life she seems to have been living. At first, Eric seems like the perfect husband―her devoted high school sweetheart―but she can’t shake the feeling that he’s somehow behind the switch. The more Kelly tries to prove that her old life in Chicago was real, the more she fears she may be losing her mind.

Author I draw inspiration from: There are a lot. For thrillers in particular, I love Tana French’s focus on character and atmosphere.

Favorite place to read a book: I have a few preferred nooks around my house, but on nice days nothing beats a hammock in the backyard.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Mark Watney from The Martian, by Andy Weir. Someone who could “science the s**t out of” survival on Mars would definitely be able to get us out of a stuck elevator. Plus he’d have really good stories.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I’ve written since I was a child, and I’m sure I wanted to be an author back then, but I didn’t really for serious know I wanted to be an author until a few years ago when I decided to try writing a novel. Even then, I had to get most of the way through a draft and have my writing group read chapters of it before I thought it had a chance of being published.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I’ve converted to ebooks. I’m pathetically dependent on the instant gratification of being able to search text or get an immediate definition for an unfamiliar word.

The last book I read: The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan

Pen & paper or computer: Computer.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Odessa Dean from Killer Content by Olivia Blacke.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Web developer, which I already am.

Favorite decade in fashion history: I really like the silhouettes from the 1940s. Shirtwaist dresses and A-lines all the way.

Place I’d most like to travel: Iceland or Prague.

My signature drink: Dark & Stormy.

Favorite artist: Helen Frankenthaler.

Number one on my bucket list: It was having a book published, but now it’s traveling to Iceland or Prague.

Anything else you'd like to add: Thanks so much for having me!
