HBL Note: When Sally contacted me about her novel, When Enemies Offend Thee, she mentioned she was a reader of Hasty Book List and asked about participating in the author interview series. She wrote, “Your questions are enticing, and my answers have been swirling in my mind since the first time I read one of your interviews. For example, the book character I think I'd be best friends with is Dixie Clay Holliver, the bootlegger in The Tilted World by Tom Franklin and Beth Ann Fennelly. I love that she's tough enough to make her own way in the world in a traditionally male occupation and yet tender enough to take in an abandoned baby to care for.” It made me so happy to think about authors looking forward to their book being published (such a huge accomplishment) but ALSO looking forward to getting to answer my interview questions. :) Stay tuned tomorrow for Sally’s Q&A. In the meantime, read about her book below.

From the publisher:

Recently widowed, Clementine Loftis returns to her hometown in North Carolina looking for comfort and peace. Instead, she finds an angry former high-school classmate who sexually assaults her in a bizarre attempt to settle an old score.

When her lack of evidence prevents police from charging him, Clementine vows to get even on her own. After her first attempt doesn't pan out, she escalates her effort. When that fails, she escalates again . . . and again.

Clementine's determination to make her attacker pay for what he's done drives her to walk a fine, dangerous line between vengeance and justice, making her question who she really is and whether she can ever again be the woman she wants to be.

When Enemies Offend Thee is a provocative thriller that will have readers questioning their own friendships, loyalties, ethics, and the possibility of redemption.
