Welcome to Hasty Book List—your cozy corner of the internet for all things bookish. Here, I share the stories I’m reading, the ones I can’t stop thinking about, and a few literary surprises along the way. I’m so glad you’re here.
There are so many ways you can support book bloggers that don’t cost a dime. The most important way is to share their work with your readers and fans (assuming, of course, the review or feature was positive. I only post positive reviews, there is enough negativity in the world. If I don’t like something, I keep it to myself.) Here are a few ways you can share my work with your followers: Share a Facebook post on your Facebook page, Share an Instagram Story with your followers, Share a Tweet on Twitter, Add a link to your Website, Create a new post on any of the aforementioned social media platforms. Not sure how to do this? I’ve provided directions below.
First, make sure you are logged in to Facebook
Find the post you want to share
Beneath the post, you’ll see the word “share.” Click that button.
To share on our personal page, click “Share now (friends)”
To share on your author page, click “Share to a Page”
The pages you own should appear, select the page you want to share it on.
Add your own personal message
Click share
First, make sure you are logged in to Instagram
Tap the house icon in the bottom lefthand corner
Tap the “word bubble” icon in the upper righthand corner
Somewhere in this list (it may be under the Primary or General tabs) you should have a notification that “Ashley Hasty mentioned you in their story.” Tap my name.
Tap “Add to your Story” in blue.
You have the option to add text or other adornments, this is optional. When you’re done, tap “Your Story.”
Make sure you are logged into Twitter
Find the tweet you want to retweet
Click the two arrows that make a square
Add your own message
Click “Retweet”
This is important for a blogger’s SEO (search engine optimization.) The more “referring domains” a blogger has, the better her chances of readers finding her blog. Which, in turn, means it is easier for her to share your book with more readers!
Each website is different, so if you don’t know how to add a link to your website, consult your website designer.
Make sure you have the most updated version of Instagram on your phone (Instagram LIVE must be done on your phone. Do not open Instagram on your laptap or other device at the same time.) I found this site helpful for instructions on how to do this.
Make sure you follow me on Instagram
Open Instagram on your phone
Tap the “house” icon on the bottom lefthand corner
Wait until you see my name (@ashleyhasty) and image appear at the top with a red circle around it that says “LIVE”
Tap my picture
In a few seconds you’ll see a notification that says “Send a request to be in ashleyhasty’s live video. Tap “Request to Join.”
Alternatively, if you do not see this option, when I see that you’ve joined I’ll send you a request to join my Instagram Live. Just tap “go live with ashleyhasty” when you see this notification pop up.
