203 Travel Challenges: Travel the world. Explore your inner self. By Maria Angelova and Ivalina Nenova

Note: Maria, one of the authors of this book, reached out to me and asked me to discuss this book on my blog. Although she provided me a copy of this book, my review and discussion represent my personal thoughts and experiences.

Also, check out my interview on 203 Challenges' blog!

At the beginning of 203 Travel Challenges: Travel the world. Explore your inner self. there is a quiz that helps you understand what kind of traveler you are. Those of you who've met me, won't be surprised that I am The Zen Traveler. The recipe for my perfect trips includes:

  1. Organization (I want to know what we are doing and when)
  2. Personal space (I'm a hardcore introvert, I need personal time to rejuvenate)
  3. Advanced Research (I want to know what to expect and what to look for)
  4. Conveniences (Those things that make a trip more fun, interesting, and comfortable)

The Zen Traveler likes the "off the beaten path" destinations and sees traveling as an inner experience. We prefer tranquil settings and we aren't to keen on unforeseen surprises. And, for me, I'm perfectly content with a book as company (surprise, surprise.)

This book is full of challenges to help you make the most of your travels. I chose challenge #34 to be my first: When you are on a holiday, get up early and see the sunrise at least once. My dad and I are both early birds, but my mom and my husband are night owls. My dad and I are also both introverts (my guess is he would also be considered a Zen Traveler...but he'll have to take the quiz to be sure!) So on our vacation to Cabo last month, we were perfectly happy watching the sunrise in complete silence.
